Once a year, we all get to take a moment and celebrate the fact that we have made it another trip around the sun! This is a great reason to throw a party, especially if you are celebrating a milestone birthday, such as the fortieth birthday! Sometimes it can be overwhelming trying to think of great the big 40 birthday party ideas, but rest assured, it doesn't have to be!
One great way to celebrate a loved one turning forty is to throw them a surprise party. Imagine the smile on the guest of honors face when they see that all of the people that they love have shown up to help them enjoy their birthday celebration!
To have a surprise party, you will need to plan out the location, entertainment, and guest list for the event without the birthday person ever knowing. Send out invitations well in advance so that you can get RSVP's and have an idea of who will be attending. Be sure to include the fact that the party is a surprise on the invitation so that nobody accidentally spills the beans!
When making your guest list for a surprise party always try to pick people that will not tell the birthday person what you have up your sleeve. Make sure that you let the people who have been invited know that they are not to mention the party. It is wise to include this on the invitation. If they give the surprise away, they are going to take away from the fun!
You can even turn the party in to a game show of sorts if you like! Spend some time putting together a power point presentation that is a time line of the life of the birthday guest from birth to present day. You can include certain events from the person's life and ask them to pair up the event with the person who was a part of the memory.
It would be a nice added touch to have the people included in the memories come to the party, but hide in another room. This way, the person can come out and surprise the birthday person in front of everyone!
A tribute band can be a great form of entertainment if the birthday person happens to be a big music lover! There are tribute bands available all over the world for many different bands, so chances are, if you do your research you will be able to find a great band to play at the birthday party. To make things even more fun, ask the guests to plan their outfits to compliment the band playing.
If you have a fun loving group that doesn't mind being silly, a wig party is also a great idea! Ask everyone on the guest list to wear a wig and wear outlandish makeup. Request that guests bring an extra wig if possible, this way if a guest forgets their wig there will be extras on hand. By the end of the night everyone will be swapping wigs and having a blast in the birthday person's honor!
